Within the NHS, I have worked in different clinical settings in adult mental health: in primary care (based in GP surgeries) with people who have mild - moderate emotional difficulties and in secondary care services with people who experience more severe and enduring mental health conditions. The latter involved working within multidisciplinary community mental health teams and on acute adult inpatient wards in psychiatric hospitals.

I have also worked within forensic settings both in the NHS (in a community forensic learning disability team) and in the private sector at the Priory Hospital Woodbourne where I administered the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) for research in forensic psychiatry on Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy (MSBP) under the auspices of Prof. Kerry Bluglass.

My clinical specialism is in the field of trauma and trauma related mental health conditions. I have considerable clinical experience working within tertiary care trauma services in the NHS with asylum seekers and refugee people (the Traumatic Stress Clinic, Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust).

I have spent the majority of my career working with diversity and my practice has been informed by the values of social justice, inclusion and equity of access. From 2009-2019, I worked within a specialist NHS service (BME Access Service, East London NHS Foundation Trust) based on the principles of community psychology, whose remit was to improve the provision of psychological therapies for racially minoritised communities in Hackney (mainly Kurdish, Turkish and Turkish Cypriot, Vietnamese, Charedi Orthodox Jewish and Black Caribbean, Black African).

Prior to leaving the NHS in late 2019, I was an affiliated clinical supervisor for the Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) training courses (University College London and University of East London) and doctoral research supervisor (Royal Holloway, University of London). I have published research papers in peer reviewed journals and presented at conferences and congresses nationally and internationally.

In 2011, I embarked on the biodynamic cranial sacral therapy (CST) practitioner training at the Craniosacral Therapy Educational Trust, London. This training has been invaluable in helping me to deepen in to a more embodied understanding of how the brain and body work together when responding to trauma.

I currently split my time between Pembrokeshire and London and offer psychological therapy, supervision and training to local communities.
